Show Stopper
Category Notes Domino 8.5.1 Backups
After enjoying a relaxing week away from work, I returned Today, fuelled and enthused from the greatness that was UKLUG.
Being so fired-up, I immediately began writing my ND 8.0.2 to ND 8.5.1 migration plan. I had been looking forward (sad, I know) to the day when I could actually start laying the foundations for implementing DAOS & ID Vault (to name but two great features) within my Notes & Domino infrastructure.
After considering things migration related, I immediately thought BACKUPS!
"I had better check that our Backup Software supports Domino Server 8.5.X?" I thought to myself.
Well, my little yellow bubble was burst very quickly ..!
Our wonderful backup software only supports up to Domino 8.0.2. Plans to support of 8.5.X are still to be decided, but expected in Q4 2009. Which is ... sort of ... now ... isn't it? How naff is that?
I'm genuinely gutted that Domino Server 8.5, let alone 8.5.1, is not currently supported by this vendor, who is considered to be a "market leader" in backup solutions. However, I'm also very glad that I took the time, and checked this out now, rather than half-way through the Domino server install process.
Has anyone else ran into a similar issue with their chosen Domino backup solution? Was it a show stopper for you too, or did you create some sort of work around to the issue? I'd be interested in hearing your stories.
